Butterfield Extended Family Portraits | Northern Utah Family Photographer

Family

My friend Quincy, of Quincy Lee Photography referred this family to me and I am so so glad she did! Not only are they the most beautiful humans on the outside, they are beautiful on the inside too. I got to drive up the canyon with Callee and her sweet little family and it was really nice to get to chat with them and get to know them . There are 5 kids in the family, 3 of which have spouses and 7 grandkids, so I knew this would be a fun session because I love shooting large families.

We decided to do their family photos up Big Cottonwood canyon at Jordan Pines. Its an awesome place for photos and it is always packed with other photographers. We walked up a little farther past where most of the other families were since we were a large group and needed a large area. Im so glad we found this perfect little spot with great fall colors and gorgeous light.

I always approach family sessions with the idea that it is better to get everyone engaged and WANTING to participate with what we are doing instead of spending the whole session saying “stand still. smile. look her. dont do that. stop that.” So we play games and incorporate FUN into our session and I think you can really see that with this family!

I love these pictures. What was given to the participants as a color palette?
