One of the things I love most about being a photographer is getting to shoot sessions with former clients as their lives progress. Last year, I shot Jacob and Shay’s wedding and have done several other sessions for them since. Shay is a huge lover of photos and I love that she keeps coming back to me to capture them for her little family.
This session was different from their other sessions because our shooting location was in the first home that they’ve built! These pictures were a great way to celebrate the milestone of seeing the completion of their new Cottonwood Heights home after watching it be built from the dirt up.
Jacob and Shay seem so comfortable and at home in their beautiful new space, and their little furry friend definitely knows his way around his new territory. Their entire little family was so fun and playful – I love working with these kinds of clients!
In-home sessions are such fun shoots since they’re much more casual and intimate within different spaces. Homes are such personal places, filled with individual tastes and styles. Seeing those things translated into photographs that are filled with the people who make that house a home is truly magical!
The most magical part of Shay and Jacob’s in-home session was seeing how comfortable their relationship has grown since their wedding day. It’s so easy to see that they’re each other’s person, and their connection is so deep. Their relationship is so fun and their puppy is just as fun and free as they are! I loved this session and I can’t wait to see the next adventures that Jacob and Shay have next.
